Law firm SEO in Dallas-Fort Worth

Law firm SEO is the work of making a firm's pages and profiles the ones Google ranks and AI assistants name when someone searches for a lawyer. In DFW it is worth more than it is for most businesses: in October 2026, Google Ads data showed advertisers paying an average of $244.34 a click for "personal injury lawyer" searched from Dallas, and $888.60 from Denton.

What a click costs a law firm in DFW

Average cost per click is what advertisers paid Google for one click on an ad for that search. A high figure means a lead is worth a lot to the people bidding.

In October 2026, Google Ads data showed an average click for "personal injury lawyer" searched from Dallas cost $244.34. Other searches made from Dallas in the same pull cost less: "bathroom remodel" $37.68, "seo" $31.35, "property management" $16.06 and "lip filler" $5.57. The Dallas personal injury click cost more than six times the bathroom remodel click.

Searches made from each city, per month, and the average cost per click. Google Ads Keyword Planner via DataForSEO, pulled 14 October 2026. Counts under 50 are shown as "fewer than 50" because they are noisy.

Three things stand out. Denton ($888.60), McKinney ($786.08) and Carrollton ($611.80) had the highest averages for "personal injury lawyer", on 90 to 140 searches a month each, while Dallas had the most searches (1,600) at $244.34. "Divorce lawyer" drew as many searches as personal injury in Fort Worth (880 against 720) at $24.14 a click. And "criminal defense attorney" reached $241.78 from McKinney and $168.19 from Plano.

"Car accident lawyer" returned no volume or cost in any of the 15 cities. That is a gap in the tool's data, not proof that nobody searches it.

Across the US, DataForSEO Labs counted these monthly searches in October 2026 (US-wide, not made in DFW): "law firm seo" 4,400 at an average click of $81.79, "lawyer seo" 3,600 at $127.18, "law firm marketing" 1,600 at $104.70 and "personal injury lawyer marketing" 720 at $105.69.

What the pages ranking for law firm seo have in common

We searched "law firm seo" from Dallas on Google desktop on 14 October 2026. Google showed an AI Overview, ten-plus organic results, two paid ads, a Google reviews block and a knowledge panel titled "Dallas Law Firm Seo".

  • Page type. Going by titles, the first ten organic results were agency service pages, how-to guides and "best companies" lists (two of the lists were titled "Best" with a year). The tenth was a Facebook video post.
  • No Dallas page. None of the ten titles names Dallas or Texas, although the search came from Dallas.
  • What we read. One agency service page ran roughly 2,500 to 3,000 words with case studies and an FAQ. The result at position 3 was a roundup of ten article summaries, dated 20 February 2022. The result at position 1 blocked our fetch (HTTP 403), so we report only its title.
  • AI Overview. The overview advised claiming and optimizing a Google Business Profile (relevant to a firm with a verifiable address), collecting client reviews, and building practice-area pages "often 2,000–3,000 words". Its cited sources, in the part we saved, were five sites, one of them a bar association's. None of those five is in the organic top ten.

What AI assistants named for a Dallas law-firm SEO agency

On 14 October 2026 we asked ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, each with web search on: "What is the best SEO agency for law firms in Dallas? Name specific companies." Each opened by saying no single agency is best.

ChatGPT

Mach 1 Design, Juris Digital, LawLifters, DFW Legal Marketing and Savo Group. It cited agency sites plus a comparison list on an agency-run site.

Perplexity

Androvett Legal Media & Marketing, Grow Law, LawLifters and Seota Digital Marketing, plus three more agencies that no other assistant named. It cited agency lists and directories, and agency sites.

Gemini

Androvett Legal Media & Marketing and DFW Legal Marketing, plus two more agencies that no other assistant named, then a group of national agencies. It listed three of its four as Dallas-based, Androvett and DFW Legal Marketing among them.

Overlap. Androvett was named by Perplexity and Gemini, LawLifters by ChatGPT and Perplexity, and DFW Legal Marketing by ChatGPT and Gemini. ChatGPT and Perplexity both cited the same agency comparison list and LawLifters' own site. In all, the three answers named 13 agencies. This page names the eight that appeared most often or first, and the other five were each named once.

The advice was the same in all three: ask for named Dallas clients, Search Console or call-tracking proof, and a clear definition of a qualified case lead. Perplexity added that an agency promising guaranteed rankings should be avoided.

These answers were about agencies, so they say nothing yet about which lawyers the assistants name. How AI answers pick sources is covered in our AI SEO and GEO service.

Businesses are named as they appeared as of Oct 14, 2026. Search results and AI answers change often: this is a dated snapshot, not a ranking or a judgment of anyone named.

Three gaps a law firm can use

Each one comes from the numbers above, not from a template.

The suburb clicks are the most expensive to buy

From McKinney, advertisers paid an average of $786.08 a click for "personal injury lawyer" in October 2026, from Carrollton $611.80, and from Denton $888.60, on 90 to 140 searches a month each. A page that genuinely serves one of those places, written from real cases, courts and clients there, targets a click that is expensive to buy. It has to be written once per place that is true, not swapped across a city list.

Ranking and being cited are separate jobs

In our 14 October check, the pages Google's AI Overview cited for "law firm seo" were different from the ten pages ranked beneath it. A firm that only watches rankings can miss the second audience. Attorney-authored pages with a named lawyer, a date, plain answers and no padding give an AI answer something it can quote.

Measure signed cases, not visits

The AI Overview for "personal injury lawyer marketing" said strategy should focus on signed cases rather than raw leads, and Perplexity told buyers to ask for a definition of a qualified case lead. A firm that tracks each call from the page that produced it to the consultation and the signed case can see which pages earn their place, and which clicks are worth paying for.

How the work differs by practice area

The method is the same as for any local search business (see local business marketing), but the buyer, the urgency and the click price are not.

Personal injury

Of the four terms we pulled, this one has the highest click prices, so organic pages and AI answers carry the most value. Build one page per injury type the firm actually handles, with the process, the questions a hurt person asks first, and the lawyers who answer them. Add a place page only where the firm really works. In Dallas the term drew 1,600 searches a month in October 2026, in Fort Worth 720.

Family law

Demand is large and a click costs far less. In October 2026, "divorce lawyer" drew 1,300 searches a month from Dallas at $100.82 a click, and 880 from Fort Worth at $24.14. Pages should explain the process step by step (filing, hearings, children, property) in a calm voice, because the reader is often upset. Lower click prices make paid search a cheap way to learn which pages persuade before you invest in organic.

Criminal defense

People searching for a criminal defense lawyer are usually under time pressure, so speed and a working phone number matter more than length. In October 2026, "criminal defense attorney" drew 480 searches a month from Dallas at $86.50 a click and 260 from Fort Worth at $67.24. Build one page per charge type, put the call button at the top, and make sure the page loads in seconds on a weak signal.

The first 90 days of law firm SEO

What the work looks like month by month, from audit to a report on signed cases.

Month 1: audit, fixes and tracking

Check where the firm appears in Google and in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for each practice area, using a fixed set of prompts. Fix what blocks crawling and speed. Make sure each lawyer has a real bio page. Clean up the firm's name, address and phone details across its profiles. Set up call tracking and a shared definition of a qualified case, so every call can be followed to a signed matter.

Month 2: practice-area pages and proof

Rewrite or build the first three to four practice-area pages with a named lawyer as author, a date, plain answers and real detail. Add place pages only where the firm genuinely serves the place. Start asking every client for a review on the platforms the firm chooses, at the moment the matter closes, and follow up by text. Keep the wording neutral, for example "Thanks for choosing us. We'd really appreciate an honest review." Never ask only the clients who seem happy. If a low score comes in, respond right away and work to make it right. Never ask for a review to be changed or removed, and never offer anything for one. This is the same method NIXAR uses for its own projects: we send a text after the project. Lawyers also have bar rules that touch on soliciting and answering reviews, so keep this general and have the firm's counsel check the wording against the State Bar's rules (see below).

Month 3: AI answers, links and a report

Re-run the same prompts and see who the assistants now name and what they cite. Work on the third-party places they pull from: legitimate directories, bar and community associations, and local press. Report on calls, consultations and signed cases, not positions. Decide the split between organic and paid from what the numbers show. We do not promise a ranking at 90 days.

Texas lawyer advertising has its own rules

Lawyer advertising in Texas is governed by its own professional rules, Part VII of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, and the State Bar of Texas runs an Advertising Review department. The firm's own compliance review applies to everything in this plan: copy, testimonials, results, ads, and how the firm asks clients for reviews and answers them. NIXAR is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Every draft goes to the firm's reviewer before it is published.

Law firm SEO, answered

What is law firm SEO?

Law firm SEO is the work of making a firm's website, practice-area pages and profiles rank on Google and get named by AI assistants when someone searches for a lawyer. It covers page content, technical fixes, the firm's profiles and reviews, and tracking calls through to signed cases.

Why do personal injury lawyers advertise so much?

One reason is visible in click prices. In October 2026, Google Ads data showed advertisers paying an average of $244.34 a click for "personal injury lawyer" searched from Dallas and $527.89 from Fort Worth. Clicks that expensive make being found organically, and being named in AI answers, worth more to a firm than to most businesses.

How do you market a personal injury law firm?

Build a page for each injury type the firm handles, with a named lawyer and plain answers. If the firm has a verifiable address, keep its Google Business Profile accurate. Ask every client for a review, within the State Bar's rules. Track each call to a signed case. Use paid search where the numbers justify it, and have the firm's own compliance review sign off on all of it.

Is SEO or Google Ads better for a law firm?

Ads are faster, and organic builds over time without a charge per click. In October 2026, an average click for "personal injury lawyer" searched from Dallas cost $244.34, so a firm that relies only on ads pays that every time. Most firms use both, and use ad data to learn which pages and phrases convert.

Does a law firm need a page for every DFW city?

No. A place page earns its spot only if the firm really serves that place and has something specific to say about it, such as courts, cases or clients there. Copying one page across a list of cities is a doorway-page pattern we do not use.

How can I tell if ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity name my firm?

Ask each one the questions a client would ask, such as "best personal injury lawyer in Dallas", and note who is named and which sources are cited. Our free check does a version of this for your business, and the visibility audit goes through it by practice area.
